Staying
Cool in
Summer
Heat |
|
Here are
a few
tricks I
use to
stay
cool!
Energy
Trick
There
are
energy
lines
that run
to your
stomach
where
heat can
get
trapped
in the
body.
These
lines
run up
the
upper
back
from the
mid-shoulders
to the
neck.
Place a
cold
towel
there
and
breathe
through
your
mouth to
let
yourself
cool off
and
breathe
out the
heat!
Ayurvedic
Trick
In
ayurveda,
you are
looked
at as
having
dominant
energies
in your
body
called
dosha
energies.
Kapha,
Pitta,
and
Vatta
are the
doshas.
If you
are
unfamiliar
with
your
dosha
types,
go to my
other
site,
Holistic
Hometown
and take
the
ayurvedic
profile
at
http://www.holistichometown.com/resources/tools.ph
p. Once
you've
taken
the
profile,
here is
a trick
by dosha
to cool
off:
Ayurvedic
Tea with
Ginger.
To 6
ounces
of warm
water
add: a)
Vatta:
1/2 tsp.
ginger
with
cane
sugar b)
Pitta:
1/2 tsp.
ginger
with
sucanat
or rock
sugar c)
Kapha:
1/2 tsp.
ginger
with
honey
Also,
refrain
from
eating
spicy
food in
the heat
as it
can
overheat
your
system
and
actually,
refrain
from
cold
drinks,
especially
with
meals,
because
they can
force
your
body to
work to
calm
itself
again
after
the
shock of
the
cold.
And, as
those
who work
with me
know
already,
drinking
anything
-
especially
something
cold-
with
meals
dilutes
digestion
causing
constipation,
weight
gain,
reflux
and
other
challenges
so try
to drink
at least
30
minutes
prior to
or 2-4
hours
after
your
meals
instead.
Hope
that
helps!
Stay
cool!

On Power
and
Shamanism |
|
Working
as a
shaman
or
shamanic
practitioner
comes
down to
working
with
power.
The
power of
the
soul,
the
power of
the
chakras,
the
power of
the mind
and the
power of
the
illusions
we may
hold.
Working
with
power is
a
challenging
and
empowering
honor,
and one
that all
of us
face on
a daily
basis.
Power,
from a
shamanic
perspective,
may be
viewed
as the
amount
of and
way we
hold our
life/soul's
energy
and how
we use
it in
our
daily
lives.
Everything
we do
comes
down to
a choice
of how
we use
this
energy.
How we
interact
with
those we
love,
and
those we
don't
feel
love
for. How
we make
decisions
or don't
make
decisions.
How we
allow or
don't
allow
others
to treat
us and
those we
love.
Each
time
there is
an
action
or lack
of
action
we are
choosing
how we
use our
energy.
Think
back on
the last
time you
wavered
for a
while
before
you made
a
decision.
It
probably
felt
exhausting
as you
wrestled
with
your
energy
and like
a relief
once you
made the
decision.

On
Cleansing
the Body |
|
How many
of you
have
thought
of
and/or
tried a
cleanse?
If you
have,
you know
how
confusing
the
products
and
belief
systems
are that
are out
there.
From
fasting
to using
cleansing
products,
the
options
are
endless,
but what
does
cleansing
mean for
you?
That is
what
this
article
is
about.
