Resources for Sitting in Stillness
I had the opportunity to spend a few quiet days at my family's lake house in WI this week. It's a beautiful space and I felt so blessed to be there. The surrounding lake, the quiet of the house, the sound of the animals, the wind, the rain all calmed my soul and I felt reborn into my own soul.
So often I think of the power of meditation to quiet the mind. In a busy world where even the earth feels unsteady at times, it's difficult to find the stillness many of us desire. That space where we feel that we can really relax, breathe and just be for a while as we reconnect with the truth of who we are and what we are here for and value in our lives.
Out at the lake house, it was so easy to be quiet like this. Easy to be still because the stillness was all around me. Easy to be completely who I am without trying or straining for anything. In that stillness I felt totally restored in my heart, my body and my mind.
That to me is what I often seek on vacation. I seek a place to come home to myself. For years I've sought out spaces throughout the world that offer me what I now find at our lake house. A space to breathe, to be and to remember what is important for me in my life and heart.
I believe that part of my work is to offer resources for those on their unique path. While I can't invite all of you to join me on vacation, I encourage each of you to take the time to restore yourselves wherever you find your stillness. Could be the mountains, the ocean, with your children, with your partner or in your living room. Take the time to sit there and take in that which nourishes you.
For those of you that find that stillness on retreat as I do, below is a link to resources for places to stay when you want to retreat. The one's with an * I have personally stayed at.
